Ocean County is the home of many adult only communities of all different sizes and types.  There are single family homes, condominiums, Co-ops and attached homes.  Most notably, there are those that are termed "Gated Communities" where everyone entering the community is required to pass through a gate house. Typically, homeowners have their own lane(s) and pass through easily whereas visitors must first register at the gate house before entering.  There are others where no gate exists and homeowners and visitors alike are free to enter as you would any other neighborhood.

The community amenities are diverse as well.  All have a clubhouse for its member use with a varying degree of social activities and clubs.  Also, all have a community pool and some of the newest developments have both indoor and outdoor pools.  Other activities include exercise rooms, craft rooms, pool and card table rooms, library and computer rooms.  Some upscale communities have on-site golf courses as well.
